Sometimes tech can be really impressive, but you still find yourself asking... why? Dear reader, I`d like to introduce you to OneThird and their new product line-up: produce freshness scanners. We`ve all wondered if that tomato we had for a few days from the store was still any good. Do I still have time for this strawberry? Can I quac-ify this avocado? Well, you could squeeze it like a peasant. Or... you could get a freshness scanner and _blast that fruit with a near-infrared laser whose reflections will be analyzed by proprietary algorithms to determine how ripe it is and how long you have left to eat it. Sure, squeezing is cheap. Free, even. Just pick it up and give it some light pressure. Easy peasy. But is that precise? Does it involve lasers? I THINK NOT. You don`t need this. You hopefully don`t even want this. But... honestly, this tech isn`t destined for a future in the home kitchen.
